My Year of Comics: The Story So Far

I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed keeping up with blogging for the last few weeks. I’ve had an urge to go back and re-read stuff from this and other eras of my comics-reading life, to slow down and really analyze a few books–or a few pages–but I also have a competing urge to keep pushing forward.

So what do I do, and how do I decide? For now, I’m just not going to. Instead, I’m going to take inventory. I’m going to spend a minute tallying and cataloging all of the stuff I’ve read this year in the hopes that remembering what I’ve worked through will help me get some kind of perspective on what this project is and what it’s supposed to be.

Because this doesn’t really just feel like one project. I feel like, overall, like I’m teaching myself how to do projects like this. How to take a year and experience some branch of human thought, expression, or culture and immerse myself as much as a person can immerse themselves, to document as much as can be documented.

Without further ado, here’s where we’ve been so far.
